Trauma responses come from loving someone with a substance use disorder.
Instead of ‘codependency’ we can say trauma.
Trauma competency is embedded in cultural competency, and the two are embedded in relational recovery.
Jessica Swan, Executive Director of Recovery Consulting, delivered a keynote address on the opening day of the 3rd Conference on International Addiction and Psychiatry & Neurology and Brain Disorders, hosted by SCIsynopsis LLC in Rome, Italy, November 18-19, 2024. Swan spoke about Family and Addiction Treatment Practices and Outcomes. She opened the second day of this multidisciplinary conference with an address on Reframing Co-dependency as a Trauma Response. She is joined at the conference by keynote presenters, Angé Weinrabe from the University of Sydney in Australia, Kerstin Liesenfeld from the Leisenfeld Institute in Germany, and Derick Lindquist from Jindal Global University in India.
